This month, we’re shining the spotlight on Cibby Bowden, Managing Director of North Texas Performing Arts (NTPA) – Fairview, who was recently honored with the prestigious Freddie G. Fellowship Award!
A National Honor for a Local Leader
Out of thousands of theatre educators across the country, Cibby Bowden was one of only five selected for this prestigious fellowship. As part of the award, Bowden will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to New York City to work one-on-one with Broadway industry professionals in master classes, seminars, and behind-the-scenes experiences.
Beyond the personal honor, this recognition also benefits the entire DFW arts community—as NTPA will receive a $5,000 grant from Freddie and Myrna Gershon to enhance arts education and performance programs in North Texas.
Bringing Broadway to Fairview
Bowden received the award at the 2025 Junior Theatre Festival (JTF)—the nation’s largest student theatre festival—where NTPA Fairview was invited for the fifth time. Under her leadership, NTPA’s 34-student troupe performed selections from Disney’s The Little Mermaid and won the festival’s highest honor—Best in POD!
Bowden’s leadership also played a key role in last year’s World Premiere of Disney’s new musical revue, Dare to Dream JR.. Her ability to create high-caliber youth productions has helped NTPA Fairview grow into a powerhouse in youth theatre.
