Fairview Town Council Celebrates Opening of Ridgeview Overpass: A Major Step in Improving Local Mobility

On Friday, September 20, the Fairview Town Council and Allen City Council members came together to celebrate a significant milestone in local infrastructure development—the grand opening of the Ridgeview Overpass. With a ribbon-cutting ceremony marking the occasion, this new bridge over U.S. 75 is now open to traffic and represents a significant improvement in connectivity for the region.

The Ridgeview Overpass, built by the Texas Department of Transportation, officially opened to drivers on Tuesday, September 24. This vital connection is part of a larger effort to enhance mobility in Fairview and the surrounding area. It provides a continuous route from U.S. 75 to the Sam Rayburn Tollway (SRT) west of Coit Road.

A New Era of Connectivity in Fairview

The opening of the Ridgeview Overpass is just the beginning of several exciting mobility improvements planned for Fairview. These infrastructure upgrades will make it easier and more convenient for residents and businesses to navigate the area, access essential services, and experience less congestion on their daily commutes.

Fairview Crossing is next on the list of enhancements, a new connection replacing the old Frisco Road. Scheduled to open in late October, Fairview Crossing will provide improved access to the growing medical district just north of town. Additionally, it will offer quicker routes between U.S. 75, SRT/Spur 399, and the intersection of State Highway 5 and Country Club Road. This development is expected to benefit residents and businesses by improving traffic flow and reducing travel times.

Future Projects to Strengthen Fairview's Infrastructure

In keeping with the town’s commitment to improving mobility, a contract for the northern extension of Fairview Parkway is expected to be awarded in November. This project will expand Fairview Parkway north of Latham Drive, ultimately connecting with Medical Center Drive to create an alternate route to State Highway 5. Collin County will provide nearly $8 million in funding for this extension, further emphasizing the regional investment in Fairview's infrastructure.

With the full extension of Fairview Parkway expected to be completed by early 2025, residents can look forward to enhanced accessibility throughout the town, and businesses will benefit from improved logistics and customer access routes.

What This Means for Fairview

These mobility improvements highlight Fairview’s dedication to creating a more connected, accessible community. The Ridgeview Overpass, Fairview Crossing, and future developments like the northern extension of Fairview Parkway will not only ease traffic congestion but also encourage economic growth by improving access to local businesses, medical services, and key transportation routes.

As Fairview continues to expand and invest in critical infrastructure, residents and businesses will benefit from the enhanced mobility, safety, and convenience these projects will bring.
