The Allen Community Band is proud to present its 2023 Spring Concert Series, marking its 10th year of quality performance in the Allen community. Led by Director Craig Logan and Associate Director Ray Akin, the band will perform at the Lowery Ninth Grade Center Auditorium on May 28, 2023, at 3:00 PM.
The Importance of Community Bands
The Allen Community Band is a 501c3 organization founded in 2013, consisting of Allen and surrounding community members. With an open instrumentation policy, the band welcomes members of all skill levels who have experience playing in a band and enjoy performing band music regularly.
The highlight of the Spring Concert is the world premiere of Flourish for Allen, a modern composition by Tony Rodriguez, a rising star in the Wind Band world with over 20 published pieces to his credit. Flourish was written for the Allen Community Band, making the performance a unique and exciting opportunity for the audience to experience.
In addition to Flourish, the concert will feature a variety of other selections, including Manhattan Beach March and How to Train Your Dragon. John Williams Midway March will be featured in the band's band's Memorial Day tribute. Concluding the concert, the band will perform John Phillip Sousa’sSousa'sand Stripes Forever, a traditional closing selection of each season.
